There’s a list of names that we’re sure to hear at least a few entries from before summer is over, and some may even make news headlines. That is, if this year’s hurricane season heats up as predicted. The list, of course, is the 2008 compilation of hurricane/tropical storm names that can be seen on the Tropical Prediction Center’s web site, http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml.
The names are chosen years in advance by the WMO (World Meteorological Organization). You may not remember that the first name, Arthur, has already been used earlier this month. Essentially he was a huge rain storm that crossed the Yucatan. Here’s hoping that we don’t get too far down the list before the end of this year’s Atlantic season.
