First Morning Below 60 Since Spring!

Posted by Andrew Freiden

What a change! This morning, we bottomed out at 57 degrees.  My colleagues on the early shift told me they had to turn on the HEAT in their cars on the way in.  Just two days ago, our morning low was near 80.  It was a muggy, tropical air mass and many of us used the air conditioning instead!

I figured I’d check the numbers to see when we last dropped below 60.  It was June 20.  That was the last full day of spring– and almost 3 full months ago.  That means it took until the last week of summer to get our first reading in the 50s.  Today’s low was 57 and in my opinion it felt good.

As Jim wrote in his last post, we’re quickly getting the end of what was a warmer than average summer.  Morning’s like this one make it feel like the changing of the leaves isn’t too far away!
