Is the Groundwater OK?

My previous post about our soggy late October weather got some of you talking about groundwater levels.  The experts say the water table/groundwater levels are close to normal across the state.  Here’s what the USGS had to say in the “Virginia Drought Monitoring Task Force” report of Oct. 27

Ground-water levels across the State as shown by the Climate-Response well network are recording water levels in the normal range or above except for the well located near Roanoke, Va., which is recording levels well below-normal and the Rockingham well, which is recording levels below-normal.

The entire report is a good read for those of you who are interested.   Other state and national agencies put their two cents too.

Strange that water levels are normal, Our water gauge in Bon Air recorded 32″ since July. Can you send some sunshine our way?

    • afreiden says:

No sunshine until Saturday at the earliest! And keep in mind the groundwater monitoring is sparse. Areas that got more rain likely have higher water tables.

This is a bit off topic of the vlog but, its funny how central VA got as cold as forecasted 32 degrees last night and this morning (Saturday) and it was even colder at my house my thermometer read 22 Saturday morning but they skys are clear and it is dry. If only we could have had moisture around last night we could have had snow!!! But when the moisture does get here it will almost certainly be a temp. of 40 – 50 degrees then and it will rain. Oh well, im not really a snow fanatic anyway but im just trying to point out the obvious.

I hear Starbucks is going to start selling fresh ground water. Any word on this?

    • afreiden says:

You have to drink it in the stores at their water table.

I set ’em up, Andrew hits ’em out of the park! We’ll be appearing at Yuk-Yuk’s this Friday and Saturday nights. The first 20 people in the door receive a free NBC12 Weather Radio!
